Meet Lori the Library Lady

Learn a little more about Lori Beck, our library director.

I have been a resident of Onawa most of my life.

My husband's name is Jim.  I have 4 children: Candace, Clint, Samantha, and Kayla; 3 cats and the most beautiful GRAND CHILDREN in the world!

I have always had an interest in the Library starting out as a student librarian in Junior High through High School.

I have worked for the Library at two different times in my life.  The first time, as a library assistant for 3 years.  I was monetarily motivated to another career for a few years.  The Library came back into my life in 1990.  I became the Director on Valentine's Day in 2002.  The library then became the "literal" love of my life.  Heading our expansion/renovation project has been an experience that I hadn't expected to have as a director.  I am always proud to have visitors come in and say that they just had to stop in and see our building because it just drew them in.  We never get tired of hearing what a wonderful thing we have done as a community to support such an amazing project.

Many changes are going on in Libraryland and I am thrilled to be able to have the backing of our community in keeping up with each and every change.  I think this shows people who are contemplating a move to our area, just what a progressive community we are.

I am thrilled to see the Library grow and change and watch and work with the people who love it as much as I do.
