Friends of the Library Drive Thru Chili & Cinnamon Roll Supper

Friends of the Library will host their 3rd Annual Library Lovers Drive Thru Chili & Cinnamon Roll Supper. Chili will be donated by Frannie's Cafe and the Cinnamon rolls will be donated by Fiesta Foods (Mike Vaughn). The money raised by the Friends group will continue to go toward further upkeep of the building as well as supporting our programs like Kids' Club, Summer Reading Program, and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.

Keziah’s secret could get her killed: she knows the Chief Steward is a fraud.

Since Keziah Sirrine’s husband disappeared on a mission trip to the frontier, she’s survived by selling herbal remedies and midwifing. Then the Chief Steward of the Congregation sells her house out from under her to fund the group’s move to the wilderness of Iowa and Keziah is forced to go along.

Duncan Ross becomes a member of the Congregation, hoping for a place to call home, to be part of something bigger than himself. He joins forces with Keziah for the health of the Congregation. As respect grows into love, Keziah wonders if she can trust Duncan with her secret.

In the isolation of Preparation, the Chief Steward declares himself anointed of God, demands members relinquish all possessions, and dodges questions about finances. As tensions boil into violence, news of Keziah’s missing husband has Duncan wondering if their love—and Preparation—will survive.

Linda McCann Author Visit - Rosie the Riveters of Iowa

"Rosie the Riveter" was the nickname given to women who worked in factories during World War II. Nationwide, hundreds of factories were converted from their normal production into making something for the war effort. The men had gone to fight the war, so the women stepped up and worked in the factories. They not only worked as riveters, but also welders, drill-press and lathe operators, inspectors, and especially anything dealing with small parts. It was found by the factories women handled the intricate work better than men. over one hundred factories in Iowa hired women to turn out items for the war. Airplanes, tanks, ammunition, and all kinds of parts were produced in Iowa. Many Rosies stayed in Iowa to work; while others went further from home. This book includes more than twenty personal remembrances from these Iowa Rosies.

Join us the second Sunday of every month from 10 - 4 for a relaxing day of Fiber Therapy. Bring your sewing machine, hand stitching, knitting, crochet, etc. Great way to visit with other like minds, learn new tips, or even learn a new craft! Bring your own drink and lunch. Free will donation for the room.
