Incredible Bats!!!
Jun 9, 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

“Plant a Seed, Read” is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology.

Kim White from Incredible Bats will be visiting for a special informative program on bats! Learn about and interact with bats and other animals from around the world. Kim is trained by Bat Conservation International and Incredible Bats is certified by the USDA.

Incredible Bats will share their Egyptian fruit bats and African straw-colored fruit bats – this is a great opportunity to see them up close!

All ages are welcome to this summer program!

Summer Story Time!!
Jun 10, 2026, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. iREAD 2026: Plant a Seed, Read will provide a context for exploring culture, history, science, health, and human connection.

Our goal will be to share our love of reading, develop positive attitudes about reading, and encourage regular use of the library and its services.

This year we will continue with our Story Time during our Summer Reading Program time. We have seen so many sad faces over the years because someone is just a little too young. Our Board of Trustee President and Preschool teacher, Jessica Hupke, will host our story time for those children that are preschool age and younger (Children must be accompanied by a guardian).

We will kick off our Summer Story Time Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 AM in the Children’s Room. We will then have programs at the library from 9:30 – 10:30 AM every Wednesday during June and July. The programs last approximately one hour. (PS You are welcome to join us for the “Farm to Fork” program and family fun June 7th, and BAT program on June 9th – see above).

Register your kids that are going into Kindergarten through going into 5th grade for weekly fun with our

Plant a Seed, Read Summer Reading Program!

Each week will be a different program with visitors like story teller Darrin Crow (http://www.darrincrow.com/) and PBS personality Conductor Jack (https://thezinghoppers.com/)! We will also be joined by community members like Tyler Ruge (Monona County Naturalist), Haylee Wachter (Monona County Extension), Burgess BHIS, and a couple of other amazing volunteers!!

And of course it is a READING program so we will have reading challenges for the summer                  with prizes and fun activities!
