Summer Reading Program
Jun 17, 2026, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Plant A Seed Read Eng-Span.jpg

Register your kids that are going into Kindergarten through going into 5th grade for weekly fun with our

Plant a Seed, Read Summer Reading Program!

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. iREAD 2026: Plant a Seed, Read will provide a context for exploring culture, history, science, health, and human connection.

Each week will be a different program with visitors like story teller Darrin Crow (http://www.darrincrow.com/) and PBS personality Conductor Jack (https://thezinghoppers.com/)! We will also be joined by community members like Tyler Ruge (Monona County Naturalist), Haylee Wachter (Monona County Extension), Burgess BHIS, and a couple of other amazing volunteers!!

And of course it is a READING program so we will have reading challenges for the summer                  with prizes and fun activities!

Summer Story Time!!
Jun 17, 2026, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. iREAD 2026: Plant a Seed, Read will provide a context for exploring culture, history, science, health, and human connection.

Our goal will be to share our love of reading, develop positive attitudes about reading, and encourage regular use of the library and its services.

This year we will continue with our Story Time during our Summer Reading Program time. We have seen so many sad faces over the years because someone is just a little too young. Our Board of Trustee President and Preschool teacher, Jessica Hupke, will host our story time for those children that are preschool age and younger (Children must be accompanied by a guardian).

We will kick off our Summer Story Time Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 AM in the Children’s Room. We will then have programs at the library from 9:30 – 10:30 AM every Wednesday during June and July. The programs last approximately one hour. (PS You are welcome to join us for the “Farm to Fork” program and family fun June 7th, and BAT program on June 9th – see above).

Kiwanis
Jun 22, 2026, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Local clubs look out for our communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. We are generous with our time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way.

For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.
