Welcome to the Onawa Public Library Website

The Onawa Public Library 100 years serving and growing

Onawa Public Library

This web site is being provided through the generosity of the State of Iowa

Library System, the Gates Foundation, and the Onawa Kelly Grant Funds.

The Onawa Public Library has recently completed an extensive  building renovation/expansion project.  This has been a  wonderful  project for not only our facility, but also to the city of Onawa.  We are very proud that our community has been so dedicated to it citizens and that those citizens were proud enough of the library to support the project.  The library is also celebrated 100 years of service to our community on October 19, 2008.

We are always proud to have visitors come in and say that they just had to stop in and see our building because it just drew them in.  We never get tired of hearing what a wonderful thing we have done as a community to support such an amazing project.

Many changes are going on in our Libraries nationwide and we are thrilled to be able to have the backing of our community in keeping up with each and every change.  This shows people who are contemplating a move to our area, just what a progressive community we are.

We invite you to step inside and look around.

There is not such a cradle of democracy upon the earth as the Free Public Library, this republic of letters, where neither rank, office, nor wealth receives the slightest consideration.  ~Andrew Carnegie
